Registration opens on June 1 for the 2012-2013 Black & Latino Achievers Program year! The Achievers Program is a Teen Mentoring program open to all 8th through 12th grade students. This program prepares youth for post secondary education, develops leadership skills, provides exposure to various career options, internship and service opportunities, and increases self-awareness and expands character.
If you are interested, applications can be found at the front desk of the Hayes Taylor YMCA. There is a $10 application fee and a $35 program fee. For more information, please contact Myrna Wigley, BLA coordinator, at 272.2131.
Application for Black and Latino Achievers
Are you looking for an opportunity for your teen to get involved? The Bryan Family YMCA is proud to announce our new Y Leaders Club for teens ages 12-18. The Y Leaders Club is a volunteer based program for teens who want to make a difference in the Greensboro community through volunteering, service projects, and fellowship. Throughout the school year we will take several field trips to places such as (but not limited to) the Greensboro Animal Shelter, Greensboro Urban Ministry, and Elsewhere Artist Collaborative to volunteer our services to the community. Y Leaders Club also has an optional "College Track" for Grades 10-12 that includes college visits, SAT prep, FAFSA assistance, and seminars for parents.
Y Leaders Club meets every 3rd Tuesday of each month beginning in October at 6:15 p.m. at the Bryan Family YMCA.
